Educated at Ely Grammer School. Admitted 23rd June, 1933 aged 18 years to
Trinity College, as Sub-sizar. Cambridge, May 1734; a Scholar of the College.
B.A. in 1736/37. M.A. in 1740 and became that year Rector of Flitwick,
Bedfordshire and 1742 Rector of St. Peter de Merton, Bedford, and was there 3
years. He was ordained a parson in Church of England at Lincoln, 1740.

A note in the Beds. Parish Records states "The 13 marriages of Flitwick
persons, 1742-53 are due to William Aveling having combined the benefice of
that parish with the curacy of Ampthill".
